Students of Drona Academy have started a whatsapp group “கரம் கொடுப்போம் aka Karam Kodupom” meaning “let us give a hand” in Tamil . Every month, they credit some money towards Karam Kodupom and they use that money to help someone in need.

This month, we’re thrilled to support three remarkable organizations dedicated to transforming lives through the power of reading and education. Every book donated is a key that unlocks opportunity, builds confidence, and changes futures.

₹1,334 worth of books (10-12 books) to Avyaym Foundation Trust (Rajkot, Gujarat)

Founded in 2021 with a mission to improve the lives of underprivileged families, Avyaym has been a beacon of hope in semi-urban and rural Gujarat. They distribute multilingual storybooks—available in English and mother tongue languages—to help children build vocabulary, communication skills, and confidence. For children with limited access to quality educational resources, these books become lifelines of learning. Your donation helps break the cycle of poverty through literacy.

₹1,334 worth of books (10-12 books) to Anveshana Foundation (Karnataka)

Since 2004, Anveshana has been transforming the lives of 20,000+ students and training 5,000+ teachers in rural and urban Karnataka. Founded by visionary educators Mr. S. Chandrashekar and Dr. B.K. Kalavathi, they work specifically with farmers’ families and first-generation learners. Their reading programs are essential for breaking generational cycles of limited opportunity. At Anveshana, education isn’t just schooling—it’s a pathway to dignity and self-determination for farming families. Reading programs give farmers’ children the tools to dream beyond their fields.

₹1,334 worth of books (10-12 books) to eVidyaloka Trust (Karnataka)

Founded in 2010 by Satish and Venkat (former Microsoft colleagues with a heart for rural India), eVidyaloka has emerged as a game-changer for rural education. They’ve reached 189,000+ students across 500+ villages in 14+ states and 21 aspirational districts through innovative digital classrooms and reading campaigns. Their 2022-23 Readathon engaged 14,600+ rural students across 636+ government schools, all supported by 5,500+ volunteers from 110+ cities globally. eVidyaloka proves that geography is no barrier to quality education when passion meets technology.

🌟 Here’s the exciting part: Anyone can volunteer to teach remotely with eVidyaloka. Whether you’re in Bangalore, Delhi, or anywhere in the world, you can dedicate 2-4 hours a week to teach Science, Math, English, AI Basics, or Life Skills to rural students via digital classrooms. No prior teaching experience needed—just passion and commitment. You could be the reason a tribal student in Jharkhand dreams of becoming an engineer, or a village girl in Assam discovers her voice through English class. Supporting eVidyaloka means empowering remote tribal villages to access world-class education—either through donations or by becoming a volunteer educator yourself.

Why This Matters Now: In rural India, books are rare treasures. A child in a village with a single-teacher government school may never see a storybook or experience the joy of reading. ₹1,000 to Gulabi Gang, the remarkable organisation founded by Sampat Pal Devi that fights domestic violence, child marriage, and corruption while empowering women in rural Uttar Pradesh. We had tried to donate last month but their payment page was broken — glad we could finally follow through.
₹1,000 to Sandeep Nayak, a 20-year-old social activist working to create change in his community.
₹2,000 to CRY's work with the Bedia community in Madhya Pradesh, supporting Child Rights and You in their efforts to break cycles of exploitation and restore dignity and education to children from one of India's most marginalised communities.
₹5,000 donated for college fees for Sumathy Sivaraman's son.

₹4,240 towards Paathshala Library — Children Create a Safer Future, helping build a library that gives children access to books, learning, and a safer path forward.
₹3,000 donated to Bharathi Matha orphanage.
We also wanted to donate to Gulabi Gang, an incredible organisation founded by Sampat Pal Devi in rural Uttar Pradesh. Known for their iconic pink saris, they fight domestic violence, child marriage, and corruption while empowering women in some of India's poorest communities through sustainable livelihoods and skill development. Unfortunately their payment page was broken at the time — we followed up and contributed in June.

₹1,000 toward Vocational Training: Empowering women at risk with the skills they need to support themselves and build a life of dignity.
₹1,600 toward Prevention Education: Protecting children in high-risk areas through awareness and schooling, ensuring they stay safe and in the classroom. Hopefully this prevents them getting sex trafficked.

Rs 2,500 towards the "One Book, One Child" reading journey in Manwat, Maharashtra. By fostering literacy and education in regions with high crime rates like rape, we aim to build a more empathetic generation and contribute to the long-term prevention of violence against women.
Rs 1,000 towards Nivedita, who runs The Women of Cinema on Instagram, raising vital awareness about systemic oppression and gender bias in media.
Rs 1,000 worth of books for Hemalatha (@hemadiaries_25), who inadvertently and casually protects underage girls from cyberbullying and harassment on social media.
Significant funds dedicated towards feeding and caring for retired elderly residents at a local old age home, ensuring they receive nourishing meals and compassionate support in their golden years.

This month, Karam Kodupom is proud to support those dismantling systemic bias, protecting our children online, and planting the seeds of literacy. Every book gifted and every story shared is a step toward a safer, more equitable world. We also honor those who care for our elders— ensuring dignity and nourishment in their golden years is a sacred responsibility we embrace."

With your generous support, we were able to provide financial assistance to those in need:

Rs. 4000 given to Ms. Rajeswari (child of DRONA) for treatment.
Rs. 4000 given for Sumanth Akka’s son’s semester fees.
Remaining Rs. 6467 will go to Devi (child of DRONA) for a liver operation.
Viswa received a programming course and storybooks (Rs. 1000) to help him prepare for a job.
Swarna Kuppili received the Amar Chitra Katha series to promote inspiring biographical history. (Rs 500)

With the generous support of our community, all intended Diwali gifts were delivered to both the Gandhimathi Ashram and the Avvai Ashram.

We extend our sincere thanks to all our young supporters. The time spent with the children at these Ashrams was a wonderful and enriching experience for our team.

This September reminds us that generosity is the greatest healing power. With the collected fund Rs.18600, we stand beside those fighting battles of illness and hardship. The support given to a poor woman in her treatment, and to R. Rajeswari in her time of need.
